Ejerens beskrivelse
Opened to the public in 1938, The Braeside Inn has recently been totally renovated. Braeside (meaning hillside) is just that, situated on several acres, surrounded by lawns and trees, nestled on the side of a hill and within walking distance of downtown. This superb setting offers a breathtaking view of historic Pictou Harbour.
All 18-guest rooms and suites have telephones, cable T.V.’s and ensuite bathrooms. All rooms are air-conditioned and most have a harbour view. Rates range from 75.00 to 175.00 Canadian. The Lobby Sitting Room serves as a waiting area for the Dining Room and is also a perfect place for reading and chatting with fellow guests. A Conference Room on the lower level can accommodate 25. Guests are greeted in a tastefully decorated lobby. The fully licensed Dining Room presently operates from mid May to mid October. There is ample on-site parking available. The newly constructed Innkeeper’s Accommodation is very luxurious; it is complete with a spacious two level living room, large bedroom and en-suite bath, plus a two car garage and work shop; this accommodation has the same breathtaking view overlooking historic Pictou harbour.
In addition there is a Three storey, 120 year-old house on the property, completely restored renovated to commercial standards in 1995. The Main Floor has a full kitchen, dining room (or second guest room with four piece bathroom), living room, sunroom, and large bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The harbour can be viewed from most rooms. A stairway leads down to a large One Bedroom Apartment, with sunroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom. It has a separate entrance from the street so can be rented daily, monthly or yearly. On the third floor with an outside entrance there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms; it has been designed in such a way that the rooms in the house could double as overflow guest rooms for the Inn.
The Town offers a variety of boutiques, shops, cafes, a museum, stately homes and schools. There is a 9 hole Golf Course located close by. Pictou County boasts having the warmest ocean waters north of the Carolinas; there are supervised beaches within very easy reach of the Inn. Pictou County has employers such as as Michelin Tire, Pictou Shipyards, and The Advocate Printing. A short drive along the Sunrise Trail, you will find Jost Vineyards .
The Braeside Inn is near to the ferry to Prince Edward Island, en-route to and from Cape Breton Island, 1¼ hours from Halifax International Airport. Pictou is an international port, has a commercial wharf used by ocean going ships, fishers and large visiting yachts, and in 2012 welcomed the first Cruise Ship from the UK for a 12 hour visit.
The Inn is owned and operated as a Limited Company (Kayland Limited). This is a fully furnished, turnkey operation. Purchase with a low down payment plus Vendor financing is available.
