Matuka Lodge, the only 5 star accommodation in the Mt Cook are, is an exceptional property, providing the perfect combination of lifestyle and income, in an incomparable location.

The lodge is 3km from Twizel, ideally situated approximately halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown. Set in a tranquil rural setting with spectacular mountain views from every room,

Purpose built to cater for discerning travelers all fittings in the lodge are of the highest. There is a large open-plan living/dining area, a TV den, a guest kitchen with broadband and WiFi internet connection and a stainless steel commercial.

All four bedrooms have a private verandah and spectacular view. The two deluxe rooms have a superking bed (can divided into twins) a double spa bath plus separate shower; the two king rooms have shower only. All ensuites have underfloor heating, heated towel rail and mirror demister. Each room has individual climate control, a large walk-in wardrobe/luggage store, security safe and built-in ironing centre.

Twizel, 60km from World Heritage listed Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, famous for its scenery, walking tracks and spectacular flightseeing, is close to lakes and rivers renowned for their wild populations of trout and salmon.

The town has a 24 hour medical centre, a selection of good restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, specialty shops, a nine hole golf course, an event centre with indoor sports facilities.

The lodge is a timber frame construction on a concrete slab, clad in Coloursteel and lined with plasterboard. It has double glazing and is fully insulated. Its north facing aspect takes advantage of the winter sun for passive solar heating, while remaining cool in the summer.

The trout pond is fed by a stream from the Fraser River. The grounds are planted with low maintenance native grasses and tussocks, conifers and deciduous trees which watered with a drip irrigation system.

The lodge is 348sq m, the deck 38sq m, on an 8000 sq m section, one of only four in an exclusive rural subdivision. There is a loft above the garage which could be converted into a fully self-contained flat.

Electricity is mains power and the waste water system is Environment Canterbury approved. Water is from a well shared by the four sections of the subdivision, on a pro rata basis.

Marketing of Matuka Lodge is mainly web based, plus features in Lonely Planet, Fodor’s Guides and in the Greenwood Guide.
There are established relationships with New Zealand Inbound Tourism Operators and UK Travel Agents. The lodge is a member of Heritage and Character Inns, the 5 Star Accommodation group and Elite Hotels of the World.

The business has potential for more growth plus there is room for further development of the property.

The current owners are staying in the area and will be available to assist during the transition stage, and afterward
